Aurora Aksnes' first musical moment was when she stumbled across a miniature piano that was in her basement, and bewildered by the sound it created. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music more as a hobby as a career. This led to her started writing songs of her own. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an affinity for Bjork's style. The singer decided to perform her music in public when her mother said they could help people not be famous with her work, but instead help people see around them realize the importance of their work and how they could impact the world. She started playing piano when she was only six and was writing her first song by the time she was nine. Her family didn't be aware until fourteen. Aurora was not a goal. Aurora is simply a writer who loves writing songs. According to her, she believes music can make any person feel better.
